Saving the planet starts at home.

Parenting, teaching, and growing up here comes with unique challenges, but also endless opportunities to lead by example.

At Sustainable Me, our mission is to help families, teachers, and communities raise resilient, adaptable kids who care deeply and think boldly.

We make sustainability simple and hands-on through youth camps, educator workshops, and everyday tools rooted in global best practices.

We weave together creative vision and practical structure — pairing the heart-led hope of solarpunk values with the grounded, goal-based focus of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Think of them as companion plants: one dreaming, one anchoring.

These practices aren’t just theoretical — they’re actionable and effective.

Meet the Founders

Kya Nguyen

Co-founder, Chief Creative Officer

Ava Turnquest

Co-founder, Chief Strategy Officer

Kya Nguyen and Ava Turnquest founded Sustainable Me with a shared vision: to raise a generation of Bahamian children who not only protect the planet but also close equity gaps and open doors to brighter futures.

Drawing from their backgrounds in design and journalism, they bring together creativity and storytelling to make sustainability accessible, joyful, and actionable. Their work is grounded in the belief that children everywhere deserve the tools to imagine beyond survival — toward futures that end poverty, strengthen communities, and create quality of life for all.

Both mothers, both dreamers, and both doers, Kya and Ava are dedicated to showing that sustainability is not an abstract idea — it is the daily practice of building a just, resilient, and hopeful future.
